Mr. Mitch’s Gobstopper Records have become one of the most vital labels in UK bass music over the past few years, with a slew of tough and forward-thinking releases placing Gobstopper in the same bracket as Night Slugs and Tri Angle Records. Having debuted on the label in 2015 with Kid U/Lost My Marbles, grime instrumental upstart Tarquin brings forth two more offerings that will only add to the label’s reputation. ‘Grease (Chord Mix)’ is classic Gobstopper, coaxing pain and strength from the Eski sound while still offering plenty of huge kicks and rattling snares. B-side ‘Foxtown’ is a riot of flutes, hi-hats and a plethora of obnoxious bass sounds that will shell down any room if placed in the right hands.
