Fiedel, aka Berghain resident Michael Fiedler, continues a captivating run of dub-informed techno for his Fiedelone label. Demonstrating that less is almost always more, Fiedel manages to craft a compelling floor-filler from the bare minimum of ingredients with A-side ‘Step Aside’, its third beat snare causing it to hang poised between woozy half speed dub and all-out techno. Fiedel pares things back even further with atmospheric B-side ‘Sloth Moth’, a big lurching tarantula of a track, its scattered staccato melody driving a lethargic electro beat that threatens at any moment to crumble beneath its own weight.
