Largely known as one half of unforgiving techno duo Lakker, Dara Smith aka Arad is coming out on his own for the first time on Haon and the results are 6 instalments of spatial manipulation and sonic mastery. Sticking to the techno blueprints established within in Lakker, cuts like Gedup Awa Dat and Forty Four are hostile in their minimalism. Similarly, closer Tapper lets a seemingly featherweight beat build in to something strong and robust before getting eclipsed by a fluid synth riff that is truly chilling. For a first solo effort, Haon is a thrilling curiosity.
