Following a stunning release for Joy Orbison and Will Bankhead's Hinge Finger, German producer and DJ Barnt drops this full-length on Magazine, the label he runs with Jens-Uwe Beyer and Crato. Bypassing any criticisms of dance music albums, he's crafted a fantastic body of work here, moving deftly between shaky interludes and expansive dance floor cuts. Opener 'Wiggett: So we know that hexog****' is as playful as its title suggests, while things get darker with '22:25'. 'Cherry Red' is as propulsive and energetic as the two tracks on Hinge Finger, and running at 11 minutes you get bang for your buck. The fuzzy electronics of '0221 51025XX' are beautifully unsettling, while the album closes with another lengthy piece of work in 'All the alts I'mm holding are hurting', a horror jam that rattles, shakes and clicks.
