Brighton’s Dominic Ashton aka Aashton makes his first appearance on Alex Stacey’s and Liam Nolan’s Berlin imprint Skrufix. With releases on Kitsuné or Get Physical and his work as one half of the house duo Aashton & Swift, he’s not new to the scene. On the 4 Real EP, he treats us with two of his elegant original productions: the title track revolves around delicate bass-inspired synth work, subtle vocal snippets and a detailed clap-dominated house beat, and ‘Clocked It’ conveys an equally cool atmosphere with its reverberant keyboard sounds. Cosmo Lopez of Paraguay’s LPZ takes on remix duties, bringing ‘4 Real’ closer to the dancefloor with extra bass and emphasized drum work.
