Hot Chip members Al Doyle, Felix Martin and studio engineer Tom Hopkins return as New Build with their debut follow-up on Rob Da Bank’s Sunday Best Recordings. Although their Hot Chip heritage is still undeniable, Pour It On more than ever makes obvious how much Doyle and Martin enjoy exploring the more expansive side of songwriting. Their electronic pop builds on catchy sequences and deploys the immersive effects of repetition. Al Doyle’s characteristic flat voice blends in organically with the extensive synth surfaces – New Build allow themselves a healthy amount of jamming between beats designed with detailed percussion and colourful choruses.
