Manchester’s Finders Keepers exhume another long lost recording, this time re-appropriating one of the rarest recordings from the late American avant-garde free-jazz trumpeter Don Cherry. The original 7” La Maison Fille Du Soleil, released in 1965, marked collaboration of two great, pioneering musicians from both sides of the pond, with the French improv pianist Franois Tusques providing his wandering piano keys for Cherry’s rich trumpetering. Both of the pieces focus on a smoky, free-jazz haze and housed in beautiful artwork, replicated on the original are a must for any aficionados of influencial Le Noveau Jazz movement.
