The long promised collaboration between multi-disciplinary artist Melvin Van Peebles and Jake Ferguson’s Heliocentrics ensemble arrives on LA-based rarities and obscurities label Now Again Records. Inspired by Peebles’ experimental poetry, the Last Transmission follows the abstract concept of interplanetary space and comes in the form of a twelve-piece suite. The psychedelic soundscapes evolute as prickly saxophones, multi-layered percussion and chaotic analogue sound effects. This instrumental version has none of Van Peebles' lyrics but instead lays bare the music behind the project.
