Modini is a collaboration between Scottish producer Hostage and techno veteran Neil Landstrumm. For their debut release on Glasgow based label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, the pair have delivered four sweaty house numbers primed for the dancefloor. Opener ‘Estate’ is the EP’s most propulsive cut, energised by looping acid house chords and an intermittent reverb heavy vocal sample. On ‘Fumble’, retro computer bleeps fire away over sirens and square wave synths. While on ‘Sorry’, the lurching bassline gives Hostage and Landstrumm room to play around with video game sound effects.
