Space Invaders is London based Lord Tusk's second EP. His music fails to slot neatly into any clear prescribed genre boundaries, but crucially it manages to be as viscerally entertaining as it is musically surprising. The title track is a clattering bizzaro hip hop number featuring rhythmic light saber samples and low key rapping courtesy of Brassfoot. It's as irreverent as it is hard hitting. Subsequent tracks completely shift stylistic gear; from pounding lo-fi techno on 'Foxhole', to shuffling old-school electro on 'Chugginville'. Many producers blend genres these days, but few do it in as uninhibited and odd a way as Lord Tusk does.
