Sydney techno label Templar Sound have allowed Atlanta’s DJ Vague to deliver a U-turn on the glossy, scalpel-sharp beats he delivered as Helix on London’s Night Slugs. Like a throwback to vintage Danny Rampling/Judge Jules sets ‘Porsche Trax’ is an immediate techno floor-filler, with crunchy, bass-heavy 4/4 loops on ‘Porsche Trax 1’ and slick but fast-jabbing Goldie sounds on the B-side. Groovy and melodic enough to reach old ravers’ sweet spot and sufficiently inventive to hook in some new ones, ‘Porsche Trax’ is a great jumping-off point if you’re unfamiliar with this producer’s work.
