German producer Justus Köhncke returns to Kompakt for his first major, full-length release in five years; and it's a whole lot more oddball in flavour than some might expect. In just the first few seconds of the albums we get field recordings of rain, bluesy harmonica, creaking doors and a faded sample of rockabilly classic 'Rock Around The Clock'. Things continue in this diverse vein throughout, Köhncke's solid house beats taking strange turns into niggling disco, string-laden chamber pop, bubbling acid, steamy electro and finishing up with a vocodered cover of 'Now That I Found You'. It's very strange, but oddly gratifying not really knowing where you stand as a listener in this surreal world Köhncke has built.
