With seven lauded 12”s behind him, US producer Steven Tang finally makes his full-length debut on Hamburg boutique label Smallville. A slight departure from the club-ready electronica he makes as Obsolete Music Technology, ‘Disconnect To Connect’ is rough and experimental, with ‘Some Solace’ twisting together chunky keyboards and a syncopated techno beat, and ‘Potential Light’ playing with soft ambient pads and a slightly less soft rhythm. Fans who’ve waited the full 15 years shouldn’t be disappointed.
