After his debut in 2013, US producer Steven Tang returns to Hamburg boutique label Smallville with a new EP. Growing up with Chicago house music in the 1980s, Tang’s influences span a long tradition of electronic dance music, which becomes apparent in the rhythmic variety of his practice. ‘Leaving The Physical World’ evolves over a dry percussive techno beat and sees dreamy synth textures huddling in the mix. ‘Mystic Ritual’s’ djembé rhythms swirl around hi-hats and ‘Reality We Make’ let’s the EP fade away calmly.
