JP Buckle had a remarkable run of releases in the 90s on labels like Warp and Aphex Twin’s Rephlex that still sound ahead of their time today. Buckle’s 1998 debut LP Flying Lo-Fi in particular stands as a high water mark of the early braindance wave, and this of-the-era remix package by Pingdiscs provides an excellent opportunity to reappraise his work as well as his place within crucial movement in UK dance.

The original mixes of album tracks “Kiss Me Quick’ and ‘Flex’ carry a heavy load here, slotting well between atmospheric dub techno and hard-charged electronica while also providing a strong backbone for more outre remixes from scene heads like Roy Of The Ravers and Myoptik.
