Roger Eno’s second solo album for Deutsche Grammophon is a crystal clear vision of cathartic soundscapes and compositions. Gentle harmonic progressions coalesce and grow into mammoth orchestral arrangements, a testament to the album’s title which is given life through the blissful, melismatic vocals of his daughter Cecily on ‘Strangely, I Dreamt’. Sharp yet hushed plucks fly over beds of organ and reeds in ‘Tidescape’, while ideas of transience and reflection are introduced in the soft swells sweeping across ‘Chordal Drift’, recalling the endlessly clouded skies and pastoral landscapes of Eno’s East Anglian home.
