After several choice compilation appearances, UK producer Sam McLoughlin makes his proper debut on the Folklore Tapes label with a new LP entitled Fae Transit. While still working within the realm of “faerie music”, Fae Transit proves to be a far more turbulent and rhythmic experience than that genre exercise description inspires. McLoughlin favours loud and often bellowing harmonium blasts and tricky, syncopated drums across these various numbered tracks to express its low-stakes mischief. This lends the album a sort of (slightly) wicked carnival effect, like a party teetering just on the edge of destruction.
