Low End Activist’s Low End Activism EP is an Oxford record. However, this isn’t the Oxford of gleaming spires and the Bullingdon club - rather, Low End Activism draws its inspiration from the city’s large Blackbird Leys housing estate and the riots that took place there in 1991. Blending ragga, dub, illbient, hardcore and rave sonics with spoken word samples, this is one of those records that is much an essay in sound as it is a fine piece of music (though it’s certainly that too). Anyone who enjoyed Death Is Not The End’s recent Bristol Pirates tape should check this post-haste.
