The final entry in the late Jaimie Branch’s Fly Or Die series, ((world war)) crystallises the celebrated trumpeter and composer’s vision for a communal and explosive form of modern jazz. The album unfolds with her Fly or Die band’s virtuosic performances: prismatic synths and keys, drums and bass plucks like rumbling thunder, and swift folk inflections of strings storming along.
