Following up their previous work for Mana, De Leon returns with their second untitled album, a curious score for metal, wood, synth, and other surreptitious instruments that never reveals its intentions, always in constant flux as sounds morph and moods shift. Marching Javanese gamelan and earthen thuds take the form of melodious bell tower clockwork as De Leon shows the malleability of all instruments at their hands. Chime strikes prompt the pacing of ‘A3’ to speed and slow unpredictably, while the album’s second half enters repetitive, trancelike structures, with stomping instruments and electronics on ‘B2’ creating a communion of percussion.
