Daniel Avery’s downtempo electro cut ‘Lone Swordsman’ was a key component of his masterful 2022 LP Ultra Truth. Written in tribute to the dearly departed legend Andrew Weatherall (and his Two Lone Swordsmen project), the tune simmered between retro-futuristic sound design and contemporary drum programming. Special to Phantasy Sound, Avery has now got another undisputed legend of dance music in there with this new ‘Lone Swordsman’ remix by Chris Carter. Taking things in a lighter direction, Carter pulls apart some of the digital muck and adds some bright ringing synths and baggier, almost Madchester-y drums to the affair.
