Released as part of a super-special series of 7” records (featuring label favourites like Mammal Hands and Matthew Halsall), Mancunian jokesters of the new school GoGo Penguin spill several hot cups of jazz all over this disc. Side A hosts ‘Garden Dog Barbecue’, a cut from the band’s Mercury-nominated 2013 LP v2.0, a rollicking number of manic piano phrases and hectic energy. Sibe B also lifts ‘Hopopono’ from v2.0, a gentle groover belied by more buttery smoothness on the rhythm section.
