Genres

Originally established in 1989 by the children of Estonian refugees in Sydney, Australia, the Kiri Uu project is revisited by two individuals of a similar background — genetically, perhaps, but not musically. Creak-whoosh revisits choral folk songs of Estonian, Ingrian and Votian origin; each tune is a densely melodic blending of stomping percussion, glowing organs and ghostly harmonisations. The outlier of this collection is ‘Tšimmairuudiralla’, a track that uses these factors as a jumping-off point for bombastic, new age-twinged electronica.
