Numero Group frequently champion the genre-agnostic spaces between house, ambient and ‘fourth world’ music, which makes the label a perfect home for A.R.T. Wilson’s Overworld. Originally composed for a multidisciplinary modern dance performance, the 10-song suite absorbs the combined forces of the above genres into a beautifully elegant and minimal whole. The kitsch artificiality of library music synths and percussion — flutes, bongos, organ — are transformed into moving pieces of ambient pastoralism on ‘House in the Garden’ and ‘Janine’s Theme (Earth)’, as inviting towards a frenetic dance as they are to a nice lie down.
