Across four 20-minute pieces, fringe experimentalist composer Boyd Rice turns his age-old NON moniker into yet another vehicle for sonic onslaughts. Blast of Silence is certainly anything but silent, but the air raid siren drones, colossal bellows and ear-piercing squeals have their own kind of placid, meditative magnetism, implying that even a barrage of non-stop avant-garde noise can take on an airy atmosphere of peace.
