Matthew Halsall’s Gondwana Records invited two of its standout artists, Portico Quartet and Hania Rani, to remix each other's work, with the resulting 12” feeling more like a collaboration than a remix EP. The synergy between the two acts is palpable, as their downtempo jazz styles fuse and add layers of complexity to each other. Portico Quartet take on Hania Rani’s ‘Nest,’ turning in an uplifting composition of hyper-detailed drumming and subtly-affecting drama. Hania Rani’s version of ‘With, Beside, Against’ is an intimate song sitting in the space between indie, jazz and electronica.
