Australian artist Reptant (AKA Lou Karsh) builds on a strong run of releases for labels like Craigie Knowes, Berlin’s party-turned-label WARNING and Kalahari Oyster Cult. His debut album as Reptant, Return To Planet X’trapolis, tells the story of his scaly, alter-ego creature returning to its home planet X’trapolis. The frenetic, psy-inspired electro and ultra-modern sound design paints a picture of a far-flung world with mutated lifeforms and colours we’ve never seen. Most of the tracks have seismic bassweight and dynamic bursts of energy that would turn a club upside down. But there are also quieter, more introspective moments, as the wandering Reptant turns dark corners of X’trapolis’ streets.
