Gondwana Records welcome jazz bandleader Dwight Trible for another instalment of their special 7” Series. The disc sees Trible and members of the Gondwana Orchestra take on two classic standards in a jazz style, Trible’s striking vocal slathering each tune with soulful resonances. Bacharach and David’s ‘What The World Needs Now Is Love’ becomes an impassioned plea, while the humanitarian, political centre of Donny Hathaway and Leroy Hutson’s ‘Tryin’ Times’ is urgently rediscovered.
