Dirty Projectors followed up their 2007 Black Flag homage Rise Above with the album Bitte Orca for Domino Recording Co, which saw the group injecting a thrilling dose of life into alternative pop music. A dazzling concoction of myriad styles and influences, from West African guitar pop, blue-eyed Timbaaland R&B, weird folk and art-rock eccentricities. Crucially though to the band's appeal is the fact that where these influences meet lies a beating heart of sumptuous, euphoric song-craft gold, which gives the album its lasting allure.
