This new album shows a change of direction in someways for Whitehouse. Musically some of this is what you could call Afronoise, tracks are built out of distorted, fierce African drums and other rhythmic instruments. The music is as fierce as ever but the more mechanical elements are lost and replaced with fist-on-skin rhythmic attack. Lyrically the content has changed ever so slightly, less obsessed with the beauty industry but obsessed with the falsehood and ugliness of narcissism. Better than the last one, with some interesting and brave developments and stripping back.
