Positively bursting with animal life and marvellous colour, Ka Baird’s second outing, Respires, often sounds like a living, breathing beast. Each part of Respires splices and rearranges the sounds and shapes of Baird’s ecstatic live performance, with some added magic by her trusty backing band contributing bubbling bass, percussion and synths to the fray of sacred flutes and kundalini meditation-inspired respiratory methods. Body and spirit meet on this earthly plain.
