Recent times have seen Martyn use his 3024 imprint as a space in which to promote the music of others. However, on the One Eye EP the label boss steps back into the ring with two DJ tools that should give the young pretenders something to aspire to. ‘One Eye’s title-track is rich and textured electro, its evocative synths and cosmic modulars shaded by some huge swells of bass and chunky stabs of rhythm. The drums come out to play on B-side ‘Nerve Centres’, a cut that combines whirling technoid polyrhythms with some tender, almost wistful bleeps that have a little early Four Tet about them.
