Hans-Peter Lindstrøm’s new LP On A Clear Day I Can See You Forever grew out of a series of performances that he gave at Norway’s Henie Onstad Kunstsenter. Working off the one-take recordings he made there and armed with electronic hardware, Lindstrøm has created four lengthy pieces here which maintain the scope of his other records while scaling back some of the more raucous elements of his style. As a result tracks like ‘Really Deep Snow’ move away from exuberant Nordic disco to a more considered style that hovers on the edge of dub techno. Time will tell, but On A Clear Day I Can See You Forever could herald an intriguing sea-change in Lindstrøm’s output.
