xtr’ctn is a set of towering noise pieces and industrialised concrete from London-based artist Michael Speers. The Northern Irish Speers constructed these tracks in unusual ways - some of the sounds include mixers feeding back and ‘nanoscopic recordings of electronic equipment’s internal behaviours’. Some of the passages of xtr’ctn are harsh and volatile in a manner reminiscent of :zoviet*france: - unsurprising given the tools Speers was working with. Elsewhere the parts that prioritise atmosphere and texture recall Prurient and Mika Vainio.
