Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz is Waajeed’s ode to Detroit, so in true Motor City fashion, he hands his tracks over to a selection of Tresor producers who recapture the glory of house and techno. Mark Broom charges in headfirst on ‘Right Now’, adding rave uproar as he commands a four to the floor to ram right into the track’s organic instrumentation. Yazzus takes us further underground and further uptempo on ‘The Ballad of Robert O’Bryant’, where booming kicks and skittering percussion set the scene for techno euphoria, while Jensen Interceptor and Assembler Code opt for a darker, destructive, and restless rework.
