The duo of Lucretio and Marieu return to Hypercolour for another EP of hypnagogic house. While their reimaginings of the golden age of Chicago’s Warehouse are well-rendered, it is their rose-tinted inclusion of samples of voice, heavy with delay and reverb, that set them apart from contemporaries like Moodymann. The hazy fog that descends on ‘Higher & Higher’, for instance, captures not only the feeling of the rave but also the memory of the feeling of the rave.
