Italian hardware fetishists Lucretio and Marieu join forces again — as The Analogue Cops, the Berlin-based duo return to Hypercolour with techno work rich in variety. Following two 12’’ for Hype_LTD, it’s their first outing on the parent label. Lucretio's hard-hitting techno opener ‘Vampire Killer’ samples the high-frequency bits of the MSX2 video game of the same name, varying the texture with low pass filters. ‘Shinobi World’ stays within the 8-bit aesthetic, but deploys more playful arpeggios. On the B side, Marieu returns to straightforward rhythmic frameworks, and the joyous Chicago indebted ‘McGraw’ appears as groovy as it gets.
