Big classic alert here from the pioneer Photek! Two decades on from its original release, the three track T’Raenon EP is once again widely available to the public. A staple of aspiring jungle DJ’s sets and still a refreshing listen to this day, Photek explores the deeper IDM side of the genre with swirling synth atmospherics and punishing drum programming. As Shinichi Atobe is to dub techno, Photek is to jungle, all tripped out and singular in an incredibly futuristic fashion. Head straight to the version for a lush downtempo take which fits right at home with what labels like Acting Press are reviving at the moment.
