What better way of celebrating a classic's 20th anniversary than with a long overdue digital reissue: the seminal jungle science of Photek’s Natural Born Killa makes its arrival in the 21st century by courtesy of its original label home, UK drum’n’bass institution Metalheadz. It’s considered to be the breakthrough release of the British-born and LA-based composer. The ambient synth pads, sophisticated bass melody and tribal influences in ‘Consciousness’ are not the only reason why the EP came to enjoy cult-status. The jazzy double bass pattern of the downtempo ‘Into the 90’s’ evoked a whole new set of associations for the genre.
