Tomorrow's People legendary album, ‘Open Soul’, is available on vinyl for the first time in forty years. The 1976 collector’s favourite has been restored by Floating Points’ Melodies International, accompanied by an interview with one of the original band members and various other Tomorrow’s People memorabilia.
Melodies International’s second release, which follows their acclaimed 2016 reissue of Aged In Harmony’s ‘You’re a Melody’, was produced in close collaboration with Timothy Burton, one of four brothers who founded the band in South Chicago in the early 1970s. Their first and only full-length album, Open Soul’s uniquely pared-back, pure, raw sound garnered the admiration of soul fans across the globe, making this one of the most highly sought-after vinyl of its day. Tomorrow’s People’s characteristically warm, genuine, eccentric brand of soul is encapsulated by tracks such as ‘Lovers To Friends’, ‘Let’s Get With The Beat’, and ‘Hurt Perversion’, whose funk-driven rhythms and throbbing bass imbue a powerful urgency and excitement.
