This utterly compelling long player from King Midas Sound’s Kiki Hitomi has no qualms with totally bending and twisting up the ‘rules’ on which genres work well together. Combining 8-bit psychedelia with digi-dub and Japanese enka the outcome is, as you’d expect, not something you’re likely to place easily with other bits in your music collection. The album was produced in collaboration with Jahtari bossman, Disrupt, with contributions also coming from the mysterious American, Tapes, Maffi and the immortal tones of Spaceape also show themselves. The lyrical content varies from the conceptual, right round to the political, stopping at racial stereotypes along the way.
