Sundur is the third folk-inspired album from Icelandic sister duo, Pascal Pinon, following on from 2013's Togetherness. Taking its name from the Icelandic proverb "sundur og saman" (meaning "apart and together"), Sundur reflects the separation that Ásthildur and Jófríður experienced before and during the making of the album while they pursued their own personal projects. It's an elegantly raw and heartfelt offering in which the presence and significance of each sound is amplified by the absence of others. If you listen carefully, you should even hear the duo's father, composer Áki Ásgeirsson, playing percussion on discarded aeroplane parts and other bits of scrap metal.
