Dutch producer Steven van Hulle (aka Awanto 3) is the master of the slow burn. Due to popular demand, the A1 here is a very special surprise – a remastered version of ‘Pregnant’ from Dekmantel’s Anniversary Series back in 2012. Simply put, it’s a deep house masterpiece. Starting off with muffled kicks and an incredibly distant synth melody that takes its time to emerge from the cocoon, the percussion grows crisper and the track eventually builds itself around a hypnotic Stephanie Mills sample. At 13 minutes long, it could quite easily be twice the length. On the flip are two new cuts – ‘Star Butchers’ is a patient house groover, while the ‘Darling Edit’ adds plentiful melody into the equation right from the off – impatience has its charms too!
