Antwerp-based producer Fyoelk has been issuing strange electronic records for nearly a decade, covering IDM, breakbeat, happy hardcore, and more abstract and uncategorisable styles under the name and as a member of Laser Poodle. Landing on Rush Hour’s No Label series, his new 12” takes inspiration from Chicago house music, led by the incredible jack track ‘Klaus’, which marries Roland rhythms with louche, jazzy keyboard soloing. Meanwhile tracks like ‘Flex’ and ‘Spinne’ are somewhat more skittish, dropping the Windy City tropes in favour of twitchy African rhythms and the colourful sounds of Shangaan electro.
