Premier Glasgow-based rave operators Dixon Avenue Basement Jams turn to fellow Scot Marquis Hawkes (Creme Organization, Houndstooth) for this latest slab of jackin’ House music pressure. His second release for Dixon… finds Hawkes in sultry mood lurching from low-slung funk filter-jams (‘Automatic’) to the modulating techno jack of ‘Higher Forces’, riotous ghetto bump Chicago styles (‘I Want You’) and squirming 909 lines such as those found in the acid worms of closer ‘Divine Intervention’. Heavyweight tackle from North of The Border and one of the foremost dance music labels (Bangers! Guaranteed!) on rotation as we type in 2015. ‘Higher Forces At Work’, indeed.
