Santiago Salazar's first full length release on the Love What You Feel label. Having made a name for himself playing herculean DJ sets at sweltering West Coast house parties, Salazar has harnessed all those late-nights and thundering beat patterns and fostered a hybridised sound that now belongs to him. UKB To LAX plays out like an upbeat house number to be played in a primetime main room set. Similarly, Ojo Por Ojo takes the carnival syncopations of Salazar’s Chicano roots and mixes them in with the deep grooves and steady patterns of his LA stomping ground. DJs stepping out with their own music for the first time doesn’t always work – fortunately, Chicanismo passes with flying colours.
