Hot on the heels of Omar Souleyman’s incredible Bahdeni Nami album, Modeselektor’s Monkeytown imprint ready his single 'Darb El Hawa’, backed by an intense rework from Black Lips’ Cole Alexander. The guitarist tones down the original’s tabla drumming and instead focusses on the most heart-wounding parts of Omar Souleyman’s vocals, thickening the traditional sounds with menacing, dissonant guitar notes. In sustaining and distorting them, ‘Darb El Hawa’ results in feeling even more exigent.
