Argentinian-born producer and pop deconstructivist Amparo Battaglia has been in the music making game since the mid 2000s. Trust, her second album for Monkeytown Records, is her most potent release to date. Under the guidance of Modeselektor, Battaglia has refined the dark and heavy sound of Catnapp, reaching unparalleled levels of intensity.

Catnapp gained traction hopping to and fro between underground labels, regularly releasing a flurry of leftfield records that set the scenes of trap, electronic and club genres aflame. Monkeytown Records has been her home since 2018, where she has evolved and grown into the anarchic audio capabilities that have led up to Trust. Created as a means of relighting the fire that was dimmed by a moment of global pause, the album journeys through countless styles: hip hop, R&B, rave, even flashes of metal - something to beckon anyone and everyone back to the dancefloor.

The lead single ‘Time On Me’ finds Catnapp spitting with a confident and unapologetic flow. Starting with clanging percussion that ticks like a time bomb, the track takes an experiment in pacing before exploding into a furore of bass boosted club chaos. Crisp synths are overdriven, pushed to the red, and subsequently torn to shreds, commencing a total overload of the senses that rushes throughout the rest of the album.

With a variety of collaborators from across the globe, Catnapp curates a high energy musical smorgasbord. Don’t be deceived by the cute plush characters on the album cover: Trust has cans of sugary hardcore clenched in its teeth.
