Hip-Hop turned house producer Mr Beatnick once again proves his musical dexterity with four new tracks on his current label home Don't Be Afraid. 'Stutter' showcases his ability to lace glistening, tribal textures through swirling, deep house. Spaced out synthesisers zoom and flex as the bassline gradually works its way to the fore. 'Jellyfish' spreads glistening percussive tentacles through a woozy minimal haze, while the title track lifts us out of the waves and into an atmospheric, jungle thicket cut laced with ghostly keys and strange, jazz-dipped echoes of sound. He may have left hip hop behind, but his beat craft obsession remains very much intact.
