Death Waltz continue their voyage into the deepest depths of cinema circa video nasty. This time Alessandro Alessandroni’s score to Giulio Berruti’s Killer Nun takes centre stage. As a central picture in the timeline of the nunsploitation cinematic movement in Europe during the ‘70s, Berruti told the story of a sister who got wrapped up in a murder case (as well as a drug problem and a sordid homosexual affair). Alessandroni’s dreamy yet dystopian score helped the tale play out. With moments of Spaghetti Western guitar interludes and flashes of gorgeous string-based composition, the score is a manic masterpiece just like the movie. Fittingly, the record comes in the form of a translucent red vinyl.
